THE HILL BROTHERS TO COACH TEAM USA AT THE SPORT ACCORD COMBAT GAMES IN BEIJING
This coming August/September, Ron and James Hill will coach Team USA at the largest, most prestigious martial arts event ever. Some are calling it the martial arts Olympics, which is pretty accurate. The games are backed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and will take place every 4 years. The competition will be held in some of the same venues as the 2008 Beijing Olympics. SUDA/AVT Takes the Show at FCE 33 Warehouse Warzone (Melrose Park, IL)
Competitors Efrain Vazquez and Chyle Vance turn the crowd to a chant of "SUDA! SUDA! SUDA!" as they both defeat their opponents with 1st round victories. Efrain, who is 3 of 3 for this year, defeated his opponent by guillotine choke at 50 seconds of round 1, while Chyle defeated his by verbal tapout due to strikes at 2:13 of round 1. Of 3 fights this year, Vazquez has not fought over 3 minutes. Outstanding job to the SUDA/AVT Warriors. Osu!!!
The Hill Brothers Coach Team USA to 3rd Place of 18 Countries
Masters Ron and James Hill successfully coached Team USA to 3rd place of 18 countries at the 2010 FILA Pankration World Championships in Krakow, Poland. Team USA place 3rd despite only having a partial team able to attend. We are looking for sponsors to aide us in providing a full team to secure our 1st place positioning.
Additionally, Team USA qualified 2 athletes for the Sport Accord Combat Games in Beijing, China this coming September. This event will be the largest, most pretigious event in martial arts history. Wish us luck.
For anyone who is interested in representing Team USA on the international stage, stay tuned for more information on the team trials in June. The trials will determine the national team to compete in Estonia this October.
SUDA Ladies, Laura and Darlene Step Up to the Plate (Evansville, IN)
Congratulations to our ladies for stepping up for their MMA debuts. We went 1-1 on the evening with both ladies fighting well. Darlene Bunch was a bit over matched, but not by skill. With women fights so scarce, Bunch stepped up to fight in the 135 lbs division, as a natural 125 lbs competitor. She faced a much large and much taller opponent who weighed 146 at fight time, and still managed to leave her opponent a painful present. Laura Edler-Hill also making her long awaited debut at 39 years old, defeated her opponent in a 3 round battle. Laura dominated all 3 rounds, though one judge gave the bout to her opponent in a Split Decision win. That referee must have been sleeping, biased, or crazy. Great job ladies!
SUDA/AVT Makes Arnold Sports Festival-San Shou (Columbus, OH)
SUDA/AVT dominated the competition at the Arnold Sports Festival. This event is know to bring together some of the best competitors in the Nation. Our competitors made it know that they are among that list. All competitors represented very well.
Joey Sullivan of our youth class was the only SUDA representative for the grappling this year, and represent he did. Joey took the 1st place award in a division of 20 game kids ages 7 and under. The best part about this feat is that Joey is only 6. Congrats to all our warriors.
SUDA/AVT Rocks the Renaissance in its Home Town (Joliet, IL)
The American Vale Tudo fight team got the chance to put on a show for its home town. A show was definitely what the fans got. The team went 3-1 on the night, dominating the competition with quick first round victories. The crowd was live and on their feet as the team entered for each of its fights. Those who knew little or nothing about the team, were quickly converted to fans, as the SUDA MMA Academy and its American Vale Tudo fight team put on an awesome display. Efrain Vazquez, James Fritz, and Jeremy Turner pulled off stylish submission victories, and Kevin Johnson fought a very good debut bout. Look for much more coming from SUDA and AVT this year.
AVT Undefeated So Far for 2010
Towards the end of 2009, the AVT coaches proclaimed 2010 as the team's year. So far, they have been correct. AVT fighters make it 3-0 for the month of January. It started on January 23rd at Power Fights, when James "The Freak" Fritz started the new year off with a submission victory. Fritz initiated the match with a shot which landed him in a guillotine that he successfully defended. Fritz then decided to return the favor, securing a front naked choke to finish the match a little over a minute into the first round. A week later, we secured two more submission victories as Efrain "Araña" Vazquez and Jeremy "Terminator" Turner entered the cage at Total Fight Challenge in Burbank. The night started off with Efrain Vazquez and his opponent initiating a brief striking exchange. EJ secured the body lock, taking his opponent to the ground, but turning a bit too much. After landing in the guard, EJ began to work the jiu-jitsu securing the arm bar at 51 seconds into Round 1. Two fights later, Jeremy would also secure the arm bar on his opponent. However, his opponent had no intention on tapping. His judgment was in error. Due to the well secured position by Turner, his opponent suffered a broken or dislocated arm ending the match at 2:40 in the first round. Congratulations to the AVT fighters for the start of a great year.

SUDA MMA OPENING 7,000 SF GYM IN JOLIET
SUDA MMA Acxademy will be opening the doors to a new 7,000 square foot gym on December 7, 2009. Students will be able to attend both SUDA MMA gyms at one low price. We hope to see you soon at SUDA.

SUDA MMA CLOSED FROM SEPT 8th-14th
The Hill Brothers, head instructors of SUDA MMA Academy, will be coaching Team USA in Lithuania during the week of September 8th - 14th. Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 15th. SUDA Mixed Martial Arts Academy Growing Strong in Homer Glen
As of this weekend the SUDA MMA Academy at the Megaplex Sports Center is growing strong, stepping over 30 participants. Currently, the classes adult population is the largest. We still have plenty of room, however, and we are waiting for you to take your place. Parents that are looking to involve their children in fun, reality-based training, this is the gym for you.
